The New Patient Experience

After our comprehensive dental exam process, many of our new patients comment that ours is the most thorough exam they've ever had. We take your oral and general health seriously and invest time to make sure that we accurately and effectively gather facts to help Dr. Hale diagnose your dental problems.

Oral cancer Screening with VELscope

At your new patient visit, we will check all of your soft tissues – gums, teeth, cheeks, roof, and floor of your mouth – for signs of oral cancer. Our office employs the latest in oral cancer detection with ViziLite and VELscope technologies. Since oral cancer strikes about 30,000 people each year and claims the lives of more than 7000 annually, Dr. Hale hopes to find cancer cells early, when patients have an 80 to 90-percent cure rate.

Gum Disease Evaluation

We will also examine your gums for signs of gum disease, a condition responsible for the majority of tooth loss in American adults. This stealthy disease often shows no signs, initially, yet it can quickly progress to cause major overall health risks. Gum disease has been linked to increased potential for heart disease, strokes, respiratory problems, low-weight births, and complications for diabetics, among other problems. If we find that you have gum disease, we will recommend therapy to stop the condition, reverse adverse effects, and deter recurrence.

Bite Assessment

A bite (occlusal) evaluation will let Dr. Hale know if your teeth come together properly. A misaligned bite can cause problems such as bruxism (teeth grinding) and TMJ dysfunction. Misaligned temporomandibular joints, called TMJ or jaw joints, can cause nagging and sometimes debilitating symptoms, like migraines, chronic earaches, and pain in the head, neck, shoulders, and face. Dr. Hale treats a misaligned bite according to the best therapy for a patient's unique case. He may recommend building up teeth to reposition how teeth come together, oral splints to deter bruxism and muscle spasms, exercises to relax spastic jaw muscles, or Invisalign clear braces to reposition teeth.

DIAGNOdent Tooth-by-Tooth Exam

Your exam will also involve a tooth-by-tooth exam with our DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection system. We'll look at your existing dental work for areas of concern. All of this information will help Dr. Hale accurately diagnose your dental situation and recommend options for care. With his thorough explanations and visual aids, you'll understand your case, as well as your treatment options. Our concierge will assist you with convenient scheduling and payment or financing arrangements. Call Dr. Hale in Naples today if you want five-star dental care. Conveniently located, our state-of-the-art office caters to patients with high expectations and discerning tastes in the Bonita Springs, Estero, and Lehigh Acres areas.
